DAILY READINGS: 2 Kings 1; Jeremiah 34; Hebrews 5:11 to 6:20

After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.  Joshua 1:1-2

We learn two things about God in this brief statement spoken so long ago. First, He knows our name—yes, the Creator of all things knows us personally. Second, He knows our service. While He remembers our sins no more (Heb.10:17), He’ll never forget a single labour of love (Heb. 6:10). Isn’t it thrilling to know a God who knows us so intimately?  —Bob Cretney
