DAILY READINGS: Numbers 12:1-13:33; Proverbs 10:1-32; 1 Peter 2:1-25

He saith unto him, Follow me. John 21:19

I had two cattle dogs. The first dog would follow me constantly. When moving cattle along the road, if I stepped to the right, she would do the same. If I stopped she would stay behind me until I moved again. The other dog, if allowed, would run ahead and decide what needed doing. How often I do the same. I try to run on ahead rather than wait for God’s leading. May I listen for that voice saying, “This is the way, walk ye in it” (Isa. 30:21). —Janet Fleming

When the Saviour calls come follow Me,
Don’t wait or turn away;
But come to Him and gladly say,
“I’ll follow You today.” —Janet Fleming

DAILY READINGS: Numbers 11:4-35; Proverbs 9:1-18; 1 Peter 1:25

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. Matthew 4:19-20

Our Lord had been baptised and come through His time of testing victorious. Now He was about to begin His public ministry. He felt the need to have a band of men with Him to whom He could teach divine principles. He chose simple fishermen who could identify with the ordinary people around and who would obey His word and follow Him. We too, need to be willing and obedient. —G. Frear

Our Lord was ready and willing to preach,
To heal the multitudes and to teach,
The men He chose were simple and true,
How willing to learn and follow are you? —G. F.
