Deuteronomy 12:1-32; Song of Solomon 2:8-3:5; Luke 9:37-62

He humbled himself. Philippians 2:8
Humble yourselves. 1 Peter 5:6

It is often through the kind words and actions of others that we are humbled. When we consider the Lord, however, it is so different. He humbled Himself. When we consider His life; humility marked His birth (Luke 2:7), His life (John 13:5), and His death (Matt. 27:29). He subjected Himself to men’s scorn, abuse, and hatred. He showed love to them as they did it. That is true humility. —John M. Clegg

How didst Thou humble Thyself to be taken,
Led by Thy creatures, and nailed to the cross?
Hated of men, and of God, too forsaken,
Shunning not darkness, the curse, and the loss!  —H. D’arcy Chapney
