The Lord is my shepherd… Psalm 23:1, KJV

Who can be your shepherd? Take care of you through life? Who can give you rest and peace? Who can restore your soul? Who can lead you on the right path, or carry you if need be? And who can take you through the valley of the shadow of death? Only the Lord Jesus Christ. Friend, don’t go through life without Him, and don’t leave this world without Him, if you know what’s good for you. Repent and trust Him today. Then He will lead you and goodness and mercy will follow you, now and forever. —Carl Knott

My soul He doth restore again, And me to walk doth make,
Within the paths of righteousness, E’en for His own name’s sake.
—The Lord is My Shepherd, based on Psalm 23

Genesis 41:1-49; Psalm 18:30-50; Matthew 24:1-28

Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known. Psalm 77:19

We all want to see God. We all want to have a path laid out before us that we can see and know and trust. But God doesn’t work that way. He wants us to see Him through the eyes of faith. He wants us to know Him through the day-to-day experiences of life. Let Him lead and guide as He sees fit, through the seas and storms and mighty waters of life. We may not see His footprints, but we will experience His mighty hand. —Deborah Manera

Trust were not trust,
If thou couldst see the ending of the way;
Nor could you learn His songs by night,
Were life one radiant day. —Freda Hanbury Allen

DAILY READINGS: Gen. 41:1-49; Psalm 18:30-50; Matt. 24:1-28

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep…And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. John 10:11, 28, NKJV

The Lord Jesus is both the Good Shepherd and the Giving Shepherd. In His goodness and His giving, He surpasses all others. Two aspects of His giving stir our hearts. First, He gave His life for us. We think of Calvary and its sin-atoning sacrifice. Secondly, He imparts to each repenting, trusting soul the gift of “eternal life” (see Romans 6:23). Accept it today, and be assured that you shall “never perish“. —George Hall

The King of love my Shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am His, and He is mine for ever. —Henry W. Baker

Genesis 40:1-23; Psalm 18:1-29; Matthew 23:1-39

So will I choose their delusions, and bring their fears on them; because, when I called, no one answered, when I spoke they did not hear; but they did evil before My eyes, and chose that in which I do not delight. Isaiah 66:4 NKJV

How beneficial and God-glorifying life is when we base our choices on what delights God. God delighted in exercising steadfast love, justice, and righteousness (Jer. 9:24). The living Word, His beloved Son, whose delight was to do the Father’s will, provided many practical examples of these virtues for our learning. May our lives never veer from the path of the One who pleased Him in all things and said, follow Me! —David J. Reed

Change my heart, O God, make it ever true;
Change my heart, O God, may I be like you. —Eddie Espinosa

DAILY READINGS: Gen. 40; Psalm 18:1-29; Matt. 23

You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21

In the genealogy of the Lord Jesus, there are three outstanding leaders. Abraham led the way out of idolatry. David brought his people into supremacy over the nations. Zorobabel led his people out of Babylonian captivity. But neither Abraham nor David nor Zorobabel could save his people from their sins. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12, KJV). The Lord Jesus can save you today. —Neil Dougal

Jesus is calling the weary to rest— Calling today, calling today;
Bring Him thy burden and thou shalt be blest, He will not turn
thee away. —Fanny J. Crosby

Lord’s Day, February 1, 2026

Genesis 39:1-23; Psalm 17:1-15; Matthew 22:15-46

His banner over me was love. Song of Solomon 2:4
Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain. Isaiah 13:2
We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners. Psalm 20:5

In the battle at Calvary, love was victorious! For truly, “Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it” (Song 8:7). We are now invited to lift up our personal banner of appreciation — our love for Him! This Lord’s Day morning, let us rejoice once more in the victory found in the finished work of the cross. Let us gather in His name and extoll the worthy One! —Pete Smith

As gathered to Thy precious name, Thy table we surround,
Thy death, Lord Jesus, to proclaim, O may our praise abound.  —D. Russell

DAILY READINGS: Gen. 39; Psalm 17:1-15; Matt. 22:15-46

The Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20, NKJV

For days a battle raged on the slopes of Triangle Hill, Korea. When brave American troops retook their position of the previous day, they found the cold, still body of their major. With tear-moistened eyes, a young infantryman was heard to say, “He didn’t belong on this hill; he didn’t have to be here; but he was here just the same.” The Lord Jesus didn’t belong on Calvary’s hill, and He didn’t have to be there. He was there in love for you and me. As a repentant sinner, believe this soulsaving truth and be assured of heaven. —Arnot P. McIntee

I do believe, I will believe that Jesus died for me!
That on the cross He shed His blood from sin to set me free.
—William Cowper
